➕ Introduction UGC / NET
The National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted on behalf of University Subventions Commission (UGC) for determining the eligibility of Indian citizens for the Eligibility of Assistant Professorship, Junior Research Fellowship or both, for Indian Universities and Colleges.
Until June 2018, the NET was conducted by CBSE in 84 subjects at 91 metropolises across the country. Later from December 2018 onwards, the UGC-NET is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Awarding of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/ or Eligibility for Assistant Professorship depends on the aggregate performance of the seeker in Paper-I and Paper-II of UGC-NET. The campaigners qualifying only for Assistant Professorship aren't to be considered for the awarding of JRF. Campaigners who qualify the eligibility test for Assistant Professorship are governed by the rules and regulations for reclamation of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/ sodalities/ state governments, as the case may be.
UGC-NET is conducted doubly every time. Due to holdback of December 2020 UGC-NET in view of COVID-19, the schedule of June 2021 UGC-NET has been delayed. In order to homogenize the UGC-NET examination cycles, the National Testing Agency (NTA), with the concurrence of UGC, has intermingled both UGC-NET of December 2020 and June 2021 cycles so that they be conducted together in CBT mode. The Operation process is thus being restarted for the new aspirants to fill in and submit their forms.
How Conduct Exam
This test is conducted by the National Testing Agency on a fixed schedule every time and a large number of campaigners apply for it. This time the online operations for this test were started on 10 August 2021 and the last date to apply was fixed as 05 September 2021.
